I have a 97 firebird with auto windows. The driver side window is having weird problems. When I roll it down, it usually goes down most of the way but sometimes stops, and it will roll up a couple inches then stops. I have to wait and then try to roll it up again. the longer I wait, the further up it will go before it stops again. It's continuing to get worse all the time. Also, is the driver side window controlled by vacuum or anything? The reason I ask is that when it won't roll up, whenever I push the button I can hear a a clicking noise that sounds like its coming from some sort of diaphragm behind the center dash on the console. Or could it be that I just need a new electric motor for that window? Help me out.

Same here! I called the GM dealer to see how much it would be to install the thing and the motor itself and it all came to be a whoppin' $300+ dollars! i pretty much told the guy "are you kidding me? i'll get one for cheaper than that and install it myself.... i'll get some help from my uncle" and well, he said its a tough job.... is it? my uncle used to work @ pep boys and he's pretty much helped me change anything in my car..... also, whats the best window motor i can get and where can i get it?http://www.cardomain.com/id/1995birdman

That is all you need to know for the install. It really isn't that hard, just a little intimidating since you have to drill into the door. As for the motors you can grab one at autozone for around $50.
Not to be a jerk, but this has been covered a lot if you search.

I went to auto zone and picked one up for $45 last year. My supervisor and I swapped the motors in like an hour or two and all it cost my was a 12 pack of beer. The biggest problem is that from the factory they're held in with rivets, so you have to drill them out, and then there isn't much room for your hands inside the door to guide the screws that come w/ the new one2000 silver A4 Camaro
Whisper lid; Free Ram Air; BMR stb; MSD super conductor wires; Gatorback belt?
1986 RX-7 (daily driver)

I had mine replaced with factory warranty by my dad and it didn't cost my anything. He's a GM tech so we also replaced a few other items while the car was at the shop, couldn't talk them into replacing the clutch early.255/50R16 Tires, Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 4 Way speakers, PPI Amps, JL subs, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Optima Yellow Top
