Stock Temperature??

Some of you have said that your stock temperatures are about 180-190. I havent put on a lower thermostat or fan switch or anything like that and it always stays at 210 when its warmed up. Which thermostat comes stock with my RS? I should probably get a lower one since I'm considering buying a Fast Toys Ram Air and I know it raises the temp a little.

I think the stock thermo is 190 deg.

I doubt the FTRA will raise your engine temp though.

By the way sac2165, I checked out your page, is your lid like the whisper lid? If so where did you buy it at, I like the heartbeat of America on it better than the 3800II.

You obviously do not understand how a thermostat works. It does NOT control the engine temperature. The temperature rating is the minimum temperature it opens, and then stays open. Your thermostat will open at 195 (BTW) and will stay open until the engine temperature drops below 195 again. It will stay open even if your engine boils over.

To cool the engine you need to control the FANS.

So are you saying a manual fan switch would be better than getting a thermostat? I may just do both. But which Thermostat is better, the jet or hypertech?

Get both. With a manual fan switch you can drive the temperature down to the thermostat minimum setting.

If you want a fan switch, build your own for $12 if you have the ability to wire things correctly based on diagrams.

Red94 - I got the Whisper Lid from Thunder Racing, mechanically it makes sense for increasing airflow, but I really couldn't tell a SOTP difference. I pulled off the 3800II and replaced it with the Heartbeat sticker I got at the dealership. You'd be surprised the collection of decals they have in their parts department.

Do you have the diagram? Will it work just as well as the RKsport fan switch and not set the SES light?

What are everyones stock temperatures when warmed up? Mine is 210, some say 190.

Mine runs a lil bit under the 210 mark but I think something is wrong. I replaced the thermostat and put a 180 in it. Still the same..... Anyone know whats up with it?

The stock temperature gauge is extremely inaccurate. Even if your car is running cooler, it will still say the same thing from what I've heard, so don't worry about your gauge giving you the same reading before and after a cooling mod.

Mine runs just a tad under 210 mark. It's normal.
