well if I personally had 5000$ to spend...

it sure as hell wouldnt go into the 3800 V6....

I'd definately take that 5000 and have an LS1 dropped into my car, even if people say "It cant be done"

So what's this about the ATI super charger and $300? I'd surely buy a super charger for that much. That's the deal? Insall would be a pain or anouther $1000 or so but well worth it.

speak of the devil. my budget is $5K. i'm working on an LT1 based 383 stroker with a T56. an LS1 is over $2K more than a good LT1 and there isn't much difference other than the injection. with the replacement parts and what i can get for my motor, i may actually be under my expected budget. i'm looking to get around 450hp out of a N/A motor. i may have enough left for a cowl hood.

You're getting an LT1 383 for 5 grand??? Where is this at? Also, did you mean that the basic LS1 is 2 grand more or the 382 is 2 grand more???

I know yall are sick of my constant hypothetical questions, but I really want to make sure that when I get the right things done to my car....

With that much money, I would definetly consider putting an LS1 in your car. You'ld still be paying V6 insurance, just as long as you didn't tell the insurance agency that you put a V8 in there. You'ld have move powere than you could ever dream of. Nothing beats the sound of an LS1. The thing about a V6 is it's always going to be a V6, it will never be a V8. It might cost a little more than your 5 grand to do but it would be well worth it. I think you'ld be happier with the LS1 rather then just modding the six. I know I would be happier with an LS1 rather then a V6. Of course, I test drove one so I can't get that out of my system. If you think it can't be done, that's not true, people have done it. There's specialty places that can help.

If you decide to keep your V6, then get the supercharger, headers, exhaust. One thing that would pertain to appearance and performance is if you got some rims and bigger tires. Better handling, traction, and acceleration, not to mention a lot better then the stock rims.

          Have fun

Either be patient and wait until the beta testing is done on the supercharger, or drop an LT1 in it. Reliability is important to me, so if it was me, I'd do the motor swap.

an LT1 usually runs between $1500 and $2500, an LS1 is between $3200 and $5000. you can buy a stroker kit for around $1000.

              Stroker kit 1
              Stroker kit 2
              Stroker kit 3

if you buy the parts separately you can get them much cheaper than buying the kit; at least that's what i'm doing. now, would you rather spend the Gs on an LS1 or a stroker making about 100+ more hp?

Oh yeah, I forget there's a forced induction section. Guess that's why I couldn't find anything in this section. I'm still used to there being less sections like there were back on V6fbody.com. Thanks.

youd be paying the same? what if u get into an accident and the only thing is insured is the factory v6 and the mechanic sees a v8 motor. then what will happen? i think your insurance just went up and you gotta pay more than you intended to....

intake: Whisper lid+K&N filter, ws6 ram air box, ram air hood(match painted to car), remove maf screen. Cost: 1,500.

Exhaust: slp loudmouth cat-back, welded rksport headers, high-flow cat. Cost+labor: 1000-1300.

                        Long block: supersix heads/cam. Cost+labor: 2500.

                        suspension/chassis: sfc's, stb, lca's, chrome-moly k-member. cost: 1100.

Yes, I went over budget by about 1000-1500 bucks. If you know how to do most of this yourself or can have a friend who knows how give you a break on labor, it will be less. BTW, I added the k-member because it weighs less than the stock one(by up to 60 lbs) and allows you more header clearance. the ram air hood I suggest is the raptor or ws6 from suncoastcreations.com. I added 100 bucks for the optional heat extractors since aftermarket headers tend to let more heat into the engine bay than the stock ones do.

                          My two cents:

Exhaust and induction (w-lid), that's it. Take the remaining $3500 (approx.) and invest it.

I asked my insurance agent about the engine swap. If you do the engine swap and do not tell your insurance company, they could deny coverage if you cause an accident due to false information on your insurance policy (the policy covers the car with a v6, not a v8).

This includes coverage of your car, any other vehicles involved, and injuries.

Weigh the pros and cons on this one.

If you tell your insurance company you have a V6 and you get into an accident with a V8 in your car, your insurance doesn't have to cover the accident.

You might as well just cancel your insurance if you plan to run a V8 and not tell your insurance company, at least youll have the money from the premiums to help pay for the repairs. ;)
