• Car is on my last nerve

Why when money is the tightest or some other situation your car seems to fail and one after the other it keeps failing. First my alternator goes...then my alignment is off and i just got new rims...then i now have an exhaust leak and i cant figure out where...then for some reason my cat conv is rattling pretty bad like the inside is messing up and its like a year old. Seriously i dont have the time or money to keep putting into this thing just to fix it and keep it running. Fix all of those and your car runs good for a long while. Bam one thing goes 3 other things go...its ridiculous!!

Dude thats just how cars are. It's not just your car, it's going to happen to any car. You start replacing stuff and your not going to need to again. I know it's the biggest PITA but you'll get to that part where your car is just running great. I thought I replaced like everything on my car but when I look back it was just the basic stuff ya know?

hey man. our cars are money pits around this age. its just typical maintenance stuff that catches up to you at one time. like me. 3g+ going into it in a week or two.

I've had my 96 RS for not even a year. So far, I've had to replace an oxygen sensor, s-belt, clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, and throwout bearing. Now, my fuel pump is about dead, a u-joint on the driveshaft needs to be replaced, as well as something in my steering column which prevents me from using the brights when the tilt is all of the way down. I've invested more than a grand in this thing and I'm still not done, and I too haven't been able to make a single mod. The only thing this car has is looks. I love the way it looks .....but it's a PILE.

If I could do it all over again, I would shop around much more........and not buy a car from a redneck with a miniature pony tail hanging from the back of his head. Hey, at least he didn't have a mullet....oh yeah. ;)

Hey willow140.... Sorry dude, but it's not the model (96 RS), but the individual car that's a PILE.
I'm willing to bet money Mr. Redneck neglected his car, and dumped it before he would have to take responsibility for his earlier actions.

Be good to it, and it'll live a long life. Yes there are problem years (usually right after they've changed the body style), but that applies to all types of cars.

What's with everyone saying their cars a junk because they need to replace stuff on them? It's just regulare maintenances stuff. It doesn't matter what kind of car you have, you need to replace certain things. Things happen, especially when they get a lot of miles on them or are old. It's just regular maintenance, learn how to do it yourself and save yourself a lot of money. That's what I started doing. Example, my car has a lot of miles on it, and needs a few more things done. I've had to replace, the clutch, tires, brakes, tranny mount, power steering. I still need to replace my suspension. I do know it sucks when you don't have the money to fix stuff.

I totally agree that my individual car is a pile. I didn't mean that all camaros are crap, that's why I gave a discription of the retard from which I bought the car. By "shop around more," I meant that I should have looked at different RS's and not different models of cars. Buying used cars, you never know what the person who had it before you has done with it, which really blows.

I bought my car used from a GM dealer when it had 33K on it, I paid $2300 for an extended $0 deductible 3/36,000 warranty. So I am good to 64K.

I have already used it to get the Oil Pan Gasket and the Rear Main Seal replaced. Although after reading some forumns that seemed a fairly common repair for our cars (I have a 1999 3.8L) at around 40K.

Also, keep in mind that most of us probably drive the hell out of our cars. My sister tells me how my Camaro isn't practical and her Toyota Corrola is going to last longer. I tell her, "Yep it probably will because I drive the hell out of my car, but I am going to have a lot more fun!"

Plus, if I drove my Camaro the way she drives her Corolla it would last just as long. Conversly, if she drove her Corolla the way I drive my Camaro (not that her 4 cyl would allow her to) it wouldn't last as long as the Camaro!

Your alignment may be off due to the new rims. It doesn't take much to throw the alignment out of whack.

A leaky exhaust should be pretty cheap/easy to fix.

If the cat is rattling inside and you can't afford to replace it just gut it. If you have to emissions test your screwed but if you don't you have a free option.
