Manual fan switch problem

I'm having a problem with my manual fan switch that I just tried to install...

I bought this switch http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...Fid=900%2D8514 , there are 3 connectors, POWER, LEAD and GROUND ran a 22 guage wire from the LEAD connector, through the POWER connector and over to my pcm area... i tapped that wire into dk. green wire #2, which on the wiring diagram says it controls the fan relay switch... then i ran another 22 guage wire from the GROUND connector on the switch to a screw behind my cd deck... put everything back together and the switch does NOTHING when flipped.

What could be wrong? Am I tapping into the right wire? Should I use a larger guage of wire? Should I be running the POWER and LEAD on the same wire like that?

I dont know why this got transferred to general tech from stereo/electrical... it sounds like electrical to me...

I have a similar three prong switch from radio shack, although mine was rated in DC specs so they may be slightly different . The GROUND tab is only needed for the switch LED to function. What you want to do is run a wire from the PCM wiring to the Power tab, then run a wire from the LEAD tab to the ground behind the radio. If you want the LED to function, run the GROUND tab to this ground as well. The GROUND tab serves no purpose in completing the primary circuit needed to turn on the fan. If you search for posts on this switch, I helped another 3.4L guy a while ago with similar problems.

Yea I remember that convo.... and thanks alot for the help... I bought some 14 guage wire and I am going to try to run that the right way instead of the 22 i was running the wrong way before...

Oh also... in that previous post you said something about a "terminal J" i didn't see a terminal J but I did find wire #2 which on the diagrams say goes to the coolant fan switch... is this the wire you tapped into?

Well, on the connector near the PCM in my car, the terminals are labeled with small letters. In yours it may be different? Not sure if they changed. In mine I believe there were 3 green wires in that connector. I tested them with a voltmeter to see which ones were +12V with the ignition on and only two were, then I tried to ground each one with the ignition on to see which was the fan.

hrmm... so it's a terminal NEAR the pcm and not the one connected INTO the pcm? can you take pics of it? i dont have a voltmeter so i am just trying to get as detailed as i can...

Nevermind... I found the wire... tapped into it, into a switch, grounded the switch and voila... my fans turn on and off by the switch...

BUT if it ain't one thing, it's a mutha****in nother... now when I get in, close the door and turn on the lights... the little noise goes off like my doors are open... WTF?
