i dont belive there would be, but would there be any adverse affects to removing the insulation attatched to my hood?

Its there because the engine gets hot and could possibly mess up the paint, but I've heard of people talking it off and not having a problem.

Personally, I wouldn't take the chance.

Wouldn't do it unless you plan on JUST running at the track. It dosen't weigh that much and you are taking a big chance on screwing up your paint.

My paints fine and I've had my car for 2 years (no insulation) and even with a fiberglass hood it hasn't warped or discolored the paint at all...hope this helps out.

The later f bodies (2000+, I believe) don't even come with that stuff.

Its not for heat repelling, its actually to deaden the engine sounds....removal is fine, I did it with my old transam (and that engine got way hotter than any v6)

It looks alot nicer with it removed.

Not only to soften engine noise but to warm the motor up faster in cold start situations. If you drive your car in the winter the motor will warm up faster with it than without. Its like a blanket. But colder air = faster car. If you don't drive it in the snow take it off, otherwise I'd leave it on.

well i was going to take it off so that i could clean under the hood better(wet insulation is just eww...) soon i will be putting some mirrors in there just for the heck of it. The mirrors should reflect the heat pretty well(heat = infared energy | infared is in the light spectrum, so mirrors can reflect it)

Take some pics of the mirrors, I was think'n of doing that too. I can't seem to get the underside of my hood polished enough.

i think yall are looking way too far into this if you are talking about infared energy and light spectrums, its just insulation it doesnt do anything. i had it on my stock hood then i got an SLP H.O. hood and it doesnt have it and there is no difference.
