Its there because the engine gets hot and could possibly mess up the paint, but I've heard of people talking it off and not having a problem.
Personally, I wouldn't take the chance.- White \'99 V6 Camaro (M5, 3.23s)
- 3\" Borla Exaust, RK Sport Induction Lid, Fast Toys Ram Air, K&N Air Filter, !Silencer, !MAF Screen, B&M Short shifter, Manual Fan Switch, 160° Hypertech Powerstat, BMR Boxed LCAs(rubber/poly), BMR STB
*My Cardomain Website*

My paints fine and I've had my car for 2 years (no insulation) and even with a fiberglass hood it hasn't warped or discolored the paint at all...hope this helps out.1996 Camaro 3.8L A4
*RK Sport Headers, RT High Flow Cat, B&B Tri-Flo Catback w/Quad Tips
*17\" Camaro SS Rims w/Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP (275/40/17 Front, 285/40/17 Rear)
*SLP Speedometer Recalibrator
*American Sports Car SS Style Hood, Painted Green Disc Calipers and Drum Shells
*Charcoal Leather Interior

Its not for heat repelling, its actually to deaden the engine sounds....removal is fine, I did it with my old transam (and that engine got way hotter than any v6)
It looks alot nicer with it removed.3.4L Red Firebird

Not only to soften engine noise but to warm the motor up faster in cold start situations. If you drive your car in the winter the motor will warm up faster with it than without. Its like a blanket. But colder air = faster car. If you don't drive it in the snow take it off, otherwise I'd leave it on.Mustangs.. well i was going to take it off so that i could clean under the hood better(wet insulation is just eww...) soon i will be putting some mirrors in there just for the heck of it. The mirrors should reflect the heat pretty well(heat = infared energy | infared is in the light spectrum, so mirrors can reflect it)Black 97 Camaro T-Tops
3800 series II w/ 5 speed manual
definately a chick magnet, and i havent even started moding yet ;)
www.cardomain.com/id/chkptcharlie
ok so i\'m a nerd... at least i have a nice car

Take some pics of the mirrors, I was think'n of doing that too. I can't seem to get the underside of my hood polished enough. CAMAROS

i think yall are looking way too far into this if you are talking about infared energy and light spectrums, its just insulation it doesnt do anything. i had it on my stock hood then i got an SLP H.O. hood and it doesnt have it and there is no difference.
