Hi. I just got my 99 3.8L Camaro a couple of months ago. When I first got it, whenever I'd start it, the "low oil" light would come on for about 1 minute each time. I was told by my friend, who knows cars a lot better than I do, that it was probably normal. I put 89 octane fuel in the engine all of the time.
Now, a couple of weeks ago I started putting in 87 because there's no real reason to put in 89... I'm betting it's a coincidence, but around this time my engine starting sounding different. The low oil light no longer comes on when I start up the car, it doesn't sound as "clean." It sounds a little duller. I suppose that's the right term to use. There also sounds like there's a very slight buzzing noise coming from the engine in high RPMs.
The car response seems to be a little bit slower, and it seems to be a little bit less smooth to shift. I guess that could all be in my head, but eh.
Well, any ideas? Any help at all would be appreciated, I just got this car and I really want to avoid this becoming a problem in the future.
