Well when ever I have my car on I hear this crakling sound coming from the engine bay. I poped the hood today and it seems to be coming from my crankshaft pulley. anyone have experience with this? I spray wd40 down on that pulley well behind it and it stops for a while.

You might have a chip out of your belt. I'd pull the belt and check it. Oh, and lay off on the wd-40. It's for door hinges, not engine components.

I agree, do not spray WD-40 on pulleys, the belt will slip....

This may sound crazy, but I use Wheel Bearing grease on the hinges. No problems and the stuff lasts a long time. I suggest applying with a narrow paint brush, not a rag.
