AFAIK, they haven't officially been release yet. I'm guessing they're still it testing. I'll let you all know as soon as I get a response from my contact at Hypertech.

If you call, they will probably tell you the same thing.... they're not available yet.

Just hold on to y'alls briches.... the answers are coming! :D

Okay... here's the scoop! I'm gonna quote the email...

quote:
At this point we are only covering the 98-02 3.8L F-Bodies! This is
because after doing some cal evaluation we found that the PCM's hardware
and software is similar in nature. It's just a matter of getting a
vehicle of each year and doing some development and verification. The
pre-98's are a different matter, different hardware and software
structure. We have gotten a lot of request for the earlier years and
some 3.4L as well...this decision will be made by HYPERTECH (out of
Engineering hands),but at this point I do not know of any plan for these
vehicles!

We currently have no "official" releases! We are still doing our best on
the Engineering side of things. We were originally hoping to release the
Beta's before Christmas, but we got pushed behind on things out of our
control. We were going to release the Beta's all at one time! And not
just year to year after we get them finished. We are currently working
on the 02's...sorry I can't give you a deadline or date of the Beta's,
but we never know what we will encounter! But I do have all the Beta
volunteers you have given me in our database and when we are ready to go
to Beta we will be getting in touch with them!! Thanks again Jason.

Hey jason I emailed you first when the topic of a 2000 camaro 3.8l beta test to start did you ever find out if they will do out of state testers. Or if I am even on their list. Thanks for all your help

They will do out of state beta testers... they were asking for locals earlier to do alpha testing before they released the beta units.

If you have given me your info, they now have it.

If anyone else wants to be a beta tester, shoot me an email with your name, address, phone numbers, car info (don't forget to include A4 or M5) and mods. That information will be passed to my contact at Hypertech and he will notify you if/when they want you to be a tester for them. Your information will never be sold or shared to anyone except that person at Hypertech.

I got a question, realistically how long did it take them for those power #'s?
It makes me wonder if, for some of the more highly modified owners, it makes sense to drive the car down there for first hand dyno tuning?
Is hypertech reading these posts or do they just deal with you directly?
I'm really happy to hear this news for these new developments.
I know I shouldn't mention the company that tuned my bird (super*****) but they did remove my speed limiter, adjust fuel mixture and could change my timing (but i left it stock for nitrous).
Is there any way I can help in this?
I know mine is a 97 and you are looking for newer models but is there anything I can do?
Let me know
Thanks

DAMN IT! I had a long reply but I posted too many images. When I went back it was GONE! I'm just going to cut it short now... :(

quote:
I got a question, realistically how long did it take them for those power #'s?

About 7-10 weeks and having my car for 8 or 9 non-consecutive days.

quote:
It makes me wonder if, for some of the more highly modified owners, it makes sense to drive the car down there for first hand dyno tuning?

They might offer that service in the future once the programmers are released. I can't say for sure though.

Don't know if they read this or not, but I'm trying to keep a good relationship between us so they know that we haven't given up on them. I don't think they have the time to read all these message boards so I try to keep updated on what y'all want. I'm also trying to get two of their engineers to join my club! :D

Hey guys!

Great to see this topic come back up. The original post is what prompted me to check out this HPPIII for my '01 M5. I ordered mine from a local high performance shop that does the work on my Y2K SS.

To me the HPPIII (on 93 octane) did not seem to make an immediate difference in how the car ran. Actually after the initial installation it seemed to run a little rougher with little if any gain in HP. Within a week or two though, the idle smoothed out and the car seems to run much stronger than the pre-HPPIII programming. I think the car needs to "learn" some of the parameters before the potential of this mod is realized (I am curious whether anyone has confirmed this).

BTW I bought my HPPIII from Strope's Speed Shop (Bill Strope is who I deal with there, great guy who knows his F-Bods). His phone number is 724-228-1166.

I agree. After receiving the programmer after the first dyno tune, I installed the powertuning on it. I could not tell by the SOTP meter the extra horsepower but when I had to remove the powertuning from my car (so they can update my programmer), I could definitetly tell the difference then! I didn't get a chance to take advantage of the fan temp adjustment since the cold weather came through not too long after finishing the programmer. I've got the fan temps set to stock so I can keep a little warmer this winter. However, come this next drag racing season will be the true teller. I ran 15.5 (2.3 60 ft) something before the HPP3 and with the HPP3, I ran the times in my sig with a still disappointing 60'. The fan temp setting for the 180º stat along with the powertuning was worth nearly 1/2 second (weather has a slight difference in times too). I've got my LSD in the closet, I'm ordering some takeoff wheels, and some Nitto D/Rs soon! My goal for next season is 14.5! :D
