• OK i have new problems......

the engine still wont start. i got a new tension pulley and belt. i think my battery might be dead from powering the car for the 15 minutes i had no belt on. in that 15 minutes i probably started the car a good 10 times (trying to get it to start). i just charged the battery for 2 hours and my battery tester shows 15 Volts, but the battery meter in the dash shows about 10-11. i think i will let it charge for another few hours and try again. it's a trickle charger, like 1 amp/minute i think. any ideas guys??? :(

sounds like a battery to me...probably a dead cell in it.

Is it cranking at all or just making a constant click sound or no sound at all?

it clicks until i stop trying to start it. then the generator whirrs for a few seconds. my stepdad was saying it was a dead cell too, so were gonna charge it for a while and try again. :( why cant my car just work?

i'll sell it to anyone willing to pay 4k! no questions asked!

if not, at least i will be able to build a maro from the ground up by the time i get it all fixed.

Yep, it's the battery then. You getting rid of the car because of an old belt? Thats a maintenance thing. It's like me getting rid of my car and saying it sucks cuz the tires are worn out.

you caught me. :D

the reason i want to sell it is because this is my first car, and i just want something that looks cool and works. the reason it is such a b*tch right now is that the ECU is giving off BS signals due to the damage of the wiring, etc. so until i get a new ECU and all new wiring i dont even know what is wrong even when i get it hooked up to a diagnostics machine. im looking at my report from folsom chevy, and they reported it to throw these error codes: (12/2/04)

P0102 ("MAF SENSOR CKT. LOW") fixed it w/ new 02 sensor
P1629 (no description)
P1626 (THEFT DETERENT FUEL ENABLE CKT. NOT RECEIVED) no idea what that means
P1812 (TRANS OVERTEMP) it was BS, it showed like 195 degrees while infared showed 80

and i just noticed that they wrote "SERP. BELT IS ON INCORRECTLY". omg.

"FUEL PUMP PRESSURE LOW (43 PSI)" knew that already.

"ALTERNATOR HAS FAILED, IT IS NOISY & OUTPUT LOW AT 12.5 VOLTS. IT SHOULD BE 13.8-14.6 VOLTS. PLUGS AND WIRES ARE HANGING LOOSE AND SHOULD BE SECURED IN PROPER LOOMS." maybe that is the cause of this?

well not sure if any of that info will help. prolly just needs a new battery.

This is why a lot of people rather buy stock cars rather than hopped up ones, like my bro in law always says, when you buy a used car you are buying another person's headache. And he is a mechanic too.

hehe. all i know is that it is starting, and it moves. the wiring is still f*cked up though.

here is full report:

some idiot installed a belt that was too small, and that combined with the fact that the idler was old it ruined it. since the idler's bearings were shot the belt fell off. then i drove home. the result was the car running off battery power instead of generator power for 15-20 minutes, killing the battery. so i needed a new idler pulley, belt, and battery. all fixed.
