• broken off bolt

On my crossmember in the middle of the car, the one u gotta take off to put on the exhaust piping....one of the bolts was broken off in the hole and none of it is sticking out so i can remove it, question is basically whats the best way to remove a broken off bolt, and i cant get a hold of it with pliers or of the sort. any suggestions? the result of the broken bolt tho is that my dash and suspension squeak now, and it didnt do it till after i got the exhaust put on, so i know its cause of that bolt.

    Easy-outs. Basically a reverse-cut drill bit.

You could drill it with a regular bit but you risk damaging the threads.

Definitely an easy-out. They work wonders .

Use an easy out, but is this the same crossmember behind the tranny mount, made of flimsy metal.

yo0u don't need it you could take it off or even hold it on with 3 bolts. heck mine had 3 bolts for 6-months after I lost one, but I found a spare in my box of spare nuts in bolts of camaros from previous years. On my 94 I think I ran awhile with it off.

Actually I guess you'd be better off using an easy out, its a good thing to practice on, if you mess up you really don't need that bolt, and it would be good practive for when you break a bolt on a head or something, and you actualy do need to get it out.

easyout is your best bet but if there is anything at all sticking out you can usually get hold of it with a cold chisel and little taps with a hammer. hold chisel at almost a 90 degree angle to the bolt and tap it in the correct direction if it is not to tight it will usually back out.
