• headers installed, now rough idle.....

I had a local shop install my headers, now the idle is really choppy, almost sounds like I have a lopy cam.

When I left the shop it was fine, after about 5-6 mins of driving the idle started mucking up.

could it be the O2 sensors? When I went to open the garage door I noticed I had an exhast leak, so after letting it cool I retightened the bolts, 2 were loose, but I dont think that was the cause, cause its still lopy
I guess I\'d have answer your question with another question.

How many Abidiginals do you see in modeling??????

headers, 3inch magnaflow cat, Loudmouth
99 Midnight Blue Firebird
3.8L A4

Does it just sound lopy or does the needle move on the tach? Mine sounds kinda lopy and I have headers and loudmouth too, but it only sounds that way.

the tach moves. At some points it sounds as if its just gonna die.

It also moves funky when in drive. If I just let it move it moves at like every rotation of the crank. It keeps wanting to jump foreward.

I guess tomorrow ill be changing the plugs and wires.

in the 5 minutes it was working properly it sounded amazing, almost GTish, but then I got to a stop light and it started this crap.

could the EGR have something to do with this?

was it that a wire was touching a header? was your idle, really rough before you changed wires?

i started up the car, and i heard a tick. it sounded like it came from the egr valve/hose.

              could that be the culprit?

while looking under the hood I just notice that the seal beatween the EGR hose, and the output on the header wasnt complete. So I unbolted it and filled it with some hi temp sealent.

oh, that was after I set off my GD alarm with my head next to the GD box

                        update:

i just got back from a test drive. I was gonna take it to NAPA, and have them scan my pcm to see if there was indeed a misfire.

Before I left I followed the advice of another member when they had a rough idle, and thought it was the egr.

well, I popped the hood, and gave the egr 2 taps from a hammer.

Started the damn thing up, and it ran like a fuggin charm. So I guess soon, Ill be replacing my egr valve.

Only prob I have no is that when I make a wide turn, the steering column rubs against one of the primaries
