    Yup - P0306 is Cylinder 6 Misfire.

    If you go to www.actron.com, you can query their database for any code and any manufacturer.

    P=Power Train
    0=Standard OBD-II code (1=Manufacturer specific code)
    3=Misfire
    06=Cylinder 6 (01=Cylinder 1, 02=Cylinder 2, etc... 00=Random multiple misfires)
    ...it\'s lonely out in space...

      i have one more question if i changed the plug and took the heat shield off the wire (cause i think the heat shield was grounding the wire) and the car runs great but the ses light is still on but not flash... should i just go get it retested or will 8.5 msd and bosch pats do that to the car

        reset the pcm
        open hood
        on drvr side, pull the PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses
        put back in
        it'll be a rough start
        drive it around
        let the pcm relearn
        if you still miss, it's either coil, wire, or plug.

            Actually you pull the fuses with the car on but not running. Be sure and pull the PCM BAT first and then the IGN, actually I think it might reset if you just putt the BAT fuse. If you go look after you just pull that one, the light will have gone off. Well then after you pulled the fuses, turn the car off and put them back in the right spots. Start it up and your free from the SES light for a little while at least.

              guess what liquid, i just got back and i got the same code you had. The p0306, well they told me P306 but its the same thing, cylinder 6 misfire. I guess the mechanic that checked was wrong, but hten again I also thought it was the exhaust since it shakes and rattles after I drive the car a while.

                    you are not going to belive this but i got in the car this morning to see if just maybe it turned off and to my surprise the light turned OFF!!!!!!

                    i think the problem was the new wires are putting out so much energy that the spark was going through the boot to the heat shield on the plug... the heat shield rests on the block, so you do the math on that one. its all good now, i have the 8.5mm wires and bosch pat plugs in with no more problems. thanks a lot guys, LiquiDCooL.

                      i don't think i am gonna trust my friend anymore. I just called him and told him what code i got and he said that i need a new ignition coil, I told him that I think I only need a new spark plug, becuase if i would need a coil then cylinder 3 would also go out. I guess he doesn't work on GM cars much, I am gonna call him after he gets off work and tell him that I will not get the coil, only the plugs.
                      Liquid, thats great man, Now i hope i dont' have to reset mine, like u said, the computer just needed to have some time to adjust to the changes.
                      Did your exhaust shake a little too before u switched the plugs???

                            yeah, same thing that happened to me. Oh well , tonight is when he fixes it. Did u fix ur car urself man?? Cause i heard it was a pain to get to the spark plugs. The bastard keeps insisting I buy a coil, but those are fricking 40 bucks, i rather just buy 6 plugs and get it over with.

                              You can check to see if it is the coil or not real easy.

                              At the coil for the #6 (and #3)plug, swap the wires to the two plugs, so that the #6 wire is connected to the #3 terminal, and the #3 wire is connected to the #6 terminal. Don't switch the wires at the plug ends.

                              Since the #6 and #3 plugs fire at the same time (one cylinder is in the exhaust cycle of the 4-stroke cycle, and one cylinder is in the compression cycle of the 4-stroke cycle), the car will run the same. The difference is, if the coil is the problem, the misfire will move to the #3 cylinder. Get the car scanned, clear the #6 misfire, then see if it comes back as a #6 misfire or a #3 misfire.

                              If it comes back as #6, the coil is probably okay, and the problem is either in the wire, plug, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, injector, or valves, (in the order of likelyhood as listed).

                              If it comes back as #3, the coil is probably the culprit.
