  • f-body doors really slam hard ?

The doors on my camaro dont close easily. you really have to slam them to make them close all the way. is this common ? is there an easy fix ?

No that isn't common. Our doors are super heavy and mine atleast close with hardly any effort. And I'm constantly having to tell people that ride with me to shut the doors nice and easy, and they still manage to shut 'em too hard..lol Maybe just try leaving a window cracked on your window or the passenger window while shutting the door. But it's also possible your car was in an accident and the alignment was throw off. OR....some cars as they get older get the door sag just from getting old and it causes the doors to require being shut harder than normal.

I would guess your door is starting to see problems. When it is open, try lifting on it just a bit, see if there is any slop in the hinges up front. You might need to replace them.

^yeah..it could be a problem with that little part thats like a wheel..its a little roller that rolls in the notches of the door hinge so you can open it at different widths..but yeah those hinges would be my first guess

yea that isn't common cuz I gotta be careful to not shut them to hard too. Definitely check the hinges and such for play like the other guys said.

My Firebird has this problem also, I'm pretty sure the alignment is off. When it rains, a little gets through right at the top of the window. Therefore The whole door needs to be re-adjusted.

that little wheel with the notches.. rusted and the wheel rusted TO the notch and when i closed it, it broke the wheel off! snapped right off.. so now my door swings freely... best free mod I have done, i just be careful not to open and let go when pointing down hill or near another car.

i was always having to wd-40 that thing

Does it seem like the air has no where to go? Like if you try slamming it shut, do you see the windows and hatch move like it's trying to let the air out?
Or is your door sagging? Pull you outside handle and close the door to see if the latch is rubbing with the striker.

most of the time the hinges don't wear out, the pin that holds the door to the hinge will wear out and start to make noise, maybe sag the door but it will definately cause the door to not close easily. just somethin to look at.
