I have heard + from some people and - from others. Which one, i doing this because i just put on the intake and the ses light has came on.
I unhook the negative while i was putting it in

It will relearn pretty quickly, especially if you give it a head start by resetting...
You can use either or. They both do the same thing. Usually it is the - for cutting power though

If you know someone that has an OBD-II scanner, they can do it for you without messing up your "learned" settings.
Also, if there is an Autozone nearby, they will do it for free too.
I finally broke down and bought a scanner - with four cars in the house and being an ex-mechanic, I am always tinkering with somebody's ride. Not a bad deal for $139. It's not the top of the line (no where even near it), but I can read codes and clear them without having to run to my buddy's shop, and if I need to do some heavy-duty tracking of readings (snap-shots of sensors, etc... I can still borrow his $800 jewel).
Back to the issue of cutting power? Use the negative cable - its safer to disconnect the negative cable, because if yor wrench slips and touches any bare metal, you are not shorting anything out. Do the same while disconnecting the postivie cable, and you wrench becomes a spark-generator! ;)

ooops, I was confused on what you meant by your question. I thought you meant is it a plus to reset the computer or not...
The most definite way to reset it, is not by disconnecting a battery cable.
Instead, find the pcm and batt fuses under the hood. Turn on the key (but don't start the car). Pull the pcm and the batt fuses. Some people say wait for a click... I've never heard mine click. Turn off the key. Put the fuses back in.
