• So which should I get, scan master or auto tap?

I've been wanting to go from my Jet Chip Stage 2 to the MAF+, even possibly building one. Problem is of course, I don't have any scan tool to keep an eye on what the car is doing to tune it. The other problem is that I don't have a lap top and don't care to buy one unless I can fine one for really cheap.

Scan master doesn't seem to have near the capabilities that Auto Tap does but you don't have to have a lap top to use it right? Is there any way I can use Auto Tap without a lap top? I don't have a pda either, just a few decked out desktop computers.

For Sale » FS: Laptop, Again [new price]

I think you could also get a PDA for about this price. Maybe you should think about mounting one of those computers in your trunk :D

I bought a AutoXray. I have used it about 10 times for my Subaru's MIL. It also does real time data and freeze frame data. Scans just about all OBD II cars and trucks.

Best investment anyone could make. If you buy one, buy a Pro kit. It comes will all manufacturer cables and PC software.

The unit is also internet download upgradeable, and if you buy it off the internet they will extend the warranty to 3 years.

So there's AutoXray, Masterscan and AutoTap right? Any others?
Seems that Masterscan doesn't have near the readings and possibly not enough to tune the MAFT. The AutoXray for a PC seems to be very well priced if it give all of the same readings as AutoTap. I still need a Laptop though right? Is there something that I can plug into my car, take a run or two or three, come back home, plug it into my computer and see what it did? Preferably a usb connection?

OBD II
very similar to AutoTap, the same readings, but I heard its not as user-friendly as AutoTap. I have OBD-2, but never used AutoTap so

There is also this Kal-Equip model, marketed by Actron. It looks like a decent model, complete with freeze frame.
