• Engine stumbles and rpm gage flops around....

any idea?

Ive changed fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, coils, ign module, and for now the MSD is disconnected, with it connected the problem gets MUCH worse, rpm gage goes crazy, stumbles alot more at any throttle position.

now when it stumbles without the msd, it only does it once real quick, and the rpm gage jumps a few hundred rpms, then it runs normal again, this is at WOT only too.

Im boggled

help

I too have been having the same problem for the last year, but it has been on and off. Today it got sobd that I heard a "pop" almost like backfire. I have replaced the same things as you except for the ign module and fuel filter. My idea is that it could be the EGR, but I'm not completely sure.

wow..i'm having the same problems on my import. i was thinking the TPS sensor.

my problems:
the car idles when cold..but when it warms up i see the tach jumping around. if i'm a 2,000 it goes up to 4,000 but the engine doesn't rev up. then the tach goes down to 0..i give it gas and the car does not respond. Most of the time it does respond..and the engine studders when it gets gas. i let off the gas the car backfires.

i'm gonna to the junkyards and buy a throttle body. that contains a TPS and MAP senors. Hopefully that is it.

if you guys find out what your problem is..post it up..i want to know.

if i wanted a brand new tps..i'd have to buy it straight from the dealer with the throttle body. thats like 400 bucks.

I had the same problem, but it turned out to be bad plug wires and ignition coil.
No mods as of yet,but they will come when the money does

i ruled out the plug wires because i tested them and they seemed to be working fine. if the new throttle body doesn't work..i'll try spark plug wires

Hey Tiago, if it is the TPS, let me know. I might have to try that on my car.
