  • feul pump need info please!!!!

    this guide is to install a fuel pump on a formula firebird. would everything be the same for a 3.8L camaro? if not are there any guides to install a fuel pump on a camaro out there? i am pretty sure that me and my dad are going to do this install this way, are there any tips from people who have done it before? thank you!

    yep will work for 3.8 and 3.4's, i haven't installed mine yet, let me how it goes

      do lt1's and v6's even use the same fuel pump? i would guess no, which led me to beleive that the sizes and install would be different. how do you know they are the same? i just want to make sure that i dont damage anything in the install because it was made for a lt1 bird.

        From 93-02, everything is all the same. When my V6 fuel pump went out, I went with a whole assembly from a 2000 LS1, worked just fine....

          do you think replacing the whole assembly would be easier than just the pump? alot of that guide was wiring and i'm not too good with that, especially when i'm not familiar with the parts of a fuel pump assembly.

            you have got to be sh*tting me! click on the link to the guide and tell me you ARENT seeing what im seeing!! ahh! it says the site has been disabled due to inactivity!!! it was working fine like 15 minutes ago!

              I am pretty sure I know what guide it was...the one where he cuts a hole in the bottom of trunk rather than lowering the gas tank?

              I think walbro 255 is like 100 bucks and a delco replacement is consideraobly more?

                what does the liters per hour difference do?

                an edelbrach 255 lph is $120 while a vortech 155 is $100. i would get the 255 but i was wondering if maybe the higher rate of fuel would mess with the fuel/air ratio. nad yes that was the guide for cutting the hole on the top. i emailed the guy asking him to reativate the site, but i would rather have you wmail it to me. i'll drop you a line.

                  well, I don't know for sure about the lph rating and how it effects whether or not you use that much fuel. (I don't think it does.) I was just mentioning to shop around because I know the stock fuel pump is pretty expensive compared to aftermarket.

                  I am emailing the pump instructions now.

                    I did the walbro 255 install about 8 months ago. Went pretty easy, took about 1 hour if that. Once you have the hole cut( when you cut the hole, cut a little more down by the fuel lines, it will make it easier to disconnect and reconnect) , it is just splicing 2 wires together and repositioning the pump. On mine I ditched the plastic housing and used a clamp and a piece of rubber to attach it to the housing. Reinstalled it, primed it a few times and it fired right up. I put in the walbro 255 high pressure and my fuel pressure at idle is around 50 psi. Normally it was around 44 psi at idle. Thats about the only difference besides having plenty of fuel.
