• Jet Chip break in time

How long does it take for this thing to "break in"? I doubt I installed it wrong since the car is running fine. I have put only 15 miles on the car since I installed the chip so I'm not expecting it to work instantaneously. I was just curious because I was expecting it to atleast run the fan quicker because I have the 160 stat in there. Any feedback would be greatly appeciated. Thanks.

When I put mine it I think it took a good 30-40 miles for the computer to figure out what's going on.

Reset your computer (turn car to ON position, not engine running, just on, remove pcm bat & ign fuses)

Just to make sure its reset

And give it a good 1-2 weeks to fully break in (though I did feel a difference right away off the line in mine)

Thanks for the responces. I hope it does kick into gear soon. I've heard that most people are happy with them, I hope I'm one of those people. All I mainly want is for the chip to run my fans and if there is a performance gain then HELL YES! :D Okay, whatever that was kinda stupid.

Not to sound stupid, but does the chip do anything with the fans? Seems like that would have been something that they would've mentioned.

The jet chip doesn't do anything to the fans or when they will come on, that's what the manual fan switch is for which I and others will highly recomend, specially with a Jet Chip. If your engine gets hot then with the Jet Chip advancing your timming, knock retard will deadvance it beyond what it would be if you didn't even have the chip.

I think maybe the Hypertech chip will change the fans but who has patience to wait for that to come out.

I remmember reading a post not to long ago where BATMAN is explaining how the whole s/c project came up about on the fbody.com board and he talked about how the jet chip kept his engine cool?? I have gotten some performance from the chip but my car runs just as hot. I guess I might see more of a performance gain when it gets cooler outside or if I decided to install a fan swith. This is curious because the claim that the stae 2 chip should be used with a lower temp stat?? WTF?? If it wont cool the engine, why would you need the stat for? I thought if told the PCM that the 160 stat was there to set off the fans quicker? If this is not the case then they pulled a fast one on a lot of us. None the less, a fan switch should fix this, right fellas?
