  • Gas peddle broke on freeway.....ya

So I knew I drive my car pretty hard...but damn! LOL Going aprox. 70 on freeway, offramp is coming up, kinda heavy traffic, downshift to 4th and give it considerate gas to get ahead of someone. THEN it happens. WHAT IN THE F***!!! It's like the friggen gas peddle disappeared!! LOL was pretty nuts. So anyway, I'm coastin on the freeway still going 70 but now slowing down coming to and incline so I pull off.

I went to get Carl's JR. for lunch too so it's getting COLD UGh. I reached down and the peddle is just loosey goosy. Has no kind of resistence. Long story short, got the car towed to a mechanic and he said something like the spring went somewhere it shouldn't or something and it's only gonna be like $150-250. Anyway, these cars are such pieces of ****. Car has under 90,000 miles and I've had so many problems it's not even funny and the car has been well maintained!!! NO WONDER THEY STOPPED MAKING EM LOL! Well our cars are built for somewhat high performance which means more maintainence issues then most economical cars. I went from an '89 Toyota Camry to my '99 Firebird and I have spent more on repairs and maintainence to the Firebird then the entire cost of the Camry.

My 99 Camaro sucks too...so many problems and still more things are going wrong every day. I take very good car of it and maintain it very well. Plus, it only has 60,000 miles! I feel your pain...

Guys, our 3.8 and 3.4 cars are mild performance car. Stuff happens...get used to it. Do You want something to get to point A to point B? With no troubles? Wanna look like a homo when your getting there? Drive a Honda.

Your age is your only excuse for making such an ignorant statement.

I don't know what all the complaining is about. The only problems that I've ever had were self-induced (killed the battery, had to change the spark plugs), and stuff that normally wears out like the headlights and turn signal bulbs. Over all, I'd rate my camaro as an extremely reliable car.

I agree on the age thing. Camaros are fun cars, and I would agree that the V8 versions are muscle cars that are unreliable. The V6 should be better.

CAMAROWIDBASS..you only had it 2 years, how do you know what went wrong before you owned it?

As I have gotten older I could care less what people think of me. I care more about not getting stuck on the side of the road and paying for a tow, which I recently did. THAT pisses me off, especially on a 5 year old car with 60,000 miles on it that I have had since BRAND new and maintained perfectly. PLUS all the other stuff adding up to nearly $2000 that I have done.

Don't get me wrong, I love driving the car and the way it looks. But what good is a good looking fun car if you're underneath it all the time?

I've had NO problems with mine in the 4 years I've owned it. Not to say I didn't put a turbo kit on it or anything, and beat the hell out of it racing and autocrossing, but no problems other than the occasional plug-wire burnthru or fouled plug.

If a vehicle is abused, import or domestic, there will obviously be probelms with that vehicle. Even if the manufacture's maintenance recommendations are followed perfectly, a vehicle can not endure the type of abuse that some people put them through. Examples include; WOT acceleration, triple-digit speeds, auto-x, and 1/4 mile runs. I am sure most of us have, at one time or another, done at leats one of the prevously listed. However, when done often enough it is just silly not to expect repairs later on and over time.

The only problem I've had with my Camaro is the power steering. I'm pretty sure it's just the pump, though.

It has 123K on it, and no problems since the time I bought it in the beginning of September.
