hi, about 2 weeks ago i noticed that my oil pressure gauge was showing about 55-60 PSI at all times. regardless of speed or rpms it was always the same pressure. i disconnected the connector that plugs into the sending unit and the gauge maxed out. i thought this was a bad unit (the ones from autozone are crappy parts anyway) so i replaced the unit with a borg warner unit with a lifetime waranty. so, i install the new unit and my pressure was about 60 psi. when i turned the car off it stayed at the same place. turn the ignition on and it drops to zero then crank it and it goes to about 60 PSI and stay around 55-60 regardless of speed or rpms. seems like since the gauge can go to zero and max out that its working properly. has anyone changed the oil pressure sending unit connector before? thats all i can think of that could be wrong. '96 3.8. thanks for any help.

That sounds about right, my oil gauge does the same thing. Always around 60, give or take. Stays at 60 when I turn it off, then drops to 0 when I crank it and right back to 60-ish when the engine is running.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

well, i had recently installed a '97 cluster with digital odo. (i have a '96). i really hadn't noticed the gauge until recently. however, with my old cluster the oil pressure would go up to around 80 when i got on it and drop to around 40 when at idle. i am assuming that the new cluster is more accurate. the fuel gauge is much more accurate now. instead of having 50 miles left at half a tank i know have about 100 miles :D
