Pretty sure the alternator is going, any advice before i fork over 250 bucks for one?
Well, I'm seeing the tell-tale symptom of a bad alternator - the voltage meter is dipping into the red zone. At idle it just barely touches the red, at good throttle it barely reaches 13.
Anything else I should check before I fork over 250 bucks to gmpartsdirect for a new alternator?

have i checked first, cause mine showed the same signs but it charged fine. its actually just sarted doing it again and im going to again go have it checked. then dont pay that much. get one at o' reilly's or auto zone for 100 something. your going to install it your self right?
Well, I called up Autozone and they have rebuilt ones in stock for 100 bucks. They've got lifetime warranties... so hell, why not? Guess I'll go get that part today...

You dont really need a 180 amp. Unless you are running a big *** system like cmarowidbass. Plus who cares if the 105 amp is weaker, it has a lifetime warranty. So all it is is replacing it, and for me time is free. But to each his own.
I had autozone test the system... turns out the battery is going bad, according to them. He showed me the diagnostics as they were goin and the alternator was putting out just fine. Now I've got another problem, but I've got to put that in another thread...

Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
