For those of you who think there is no lag, you aren't familiar with the 97 and prior tachs. They are INSTANT and responsive and update QUICKLY.. there is ZERO delay....

Magnus not trying to flame you but...

Your description "instant, quick w/no delay" does describe my 98's (stock) tach fairly good. Maybe it is just certain cars.

My cars tach is almost as responsive as my motorcylcle's.

years before 98 ARE as fast as your motorcycles.

If your car isn't as fast as your cycles, then it isn't instant.

he's saying his 98 is as fast, keith.

          i'm willing to surmise it's a 99+ problem.

ETC, and different temp gauges, lead me to believe this.

            its a 98+ issue. I know this.

Some tachs may be faster than others 98+, but 99% of them aren't as instantly responsive like the pre 98's.

the cluster changes COMPLETELY in 98. In 99 they change the way the coolant temp gauge operates, and the fuel gauge.

Why not just "transplant" the tach from a 97 and put it in your 02 cluster? I'm sure it would be a little work, but if the layout is basically the same, I don't see why you can't?

your tach will be off, your coolant temp gauge won't work and neither will your fuel level gauge.

97 was the change from analong to dig odo.

the gauge hardware remained mostly the same.

We're talking elecronics in the actual cluster here. That's where the problem lies.

Straight TB's... i think they are no difference in HP, but we have drive by wire wihch is cool. I love drive by wire, not a big fan of ETC.

I think the SLP CAI for the 97 style is better than the lid setup. The lid setup has a few bottlenecks that the SLP CAI doesn't have.
