• A/C not blowing cold anymore?

Its getting hot around here so Im starting to use the A/C, i usually just roll with the windows down but its hitting 90's.

I turn on the A/C and it just blows air, not cold, not hot. Just like its vent air. The Heat still works fine when it set it over to that. But cold doesnt work.

Is their a refrigerant I have to refill?

Sorry im a newbie when it comes to this stuff.

I just got done fabbing up a bracket to hold the OEM front body kit on, since it was starting to sag though. Looks good

Take it to a shop. The A/C is a PITA....unfortunately, I have never had a cheap A/C repair.

Yeah.. I had this problem also..
I took care of it yesterday..
Go to local auto parts store..
get yourself an air conditioning recharge kit..
it will come with instructions, a pressure guage, and conection plumbing.. also get a few cans of the refregerent.. its like r**-*a.. the *'s are numbers that i cant remember..
there are only two kinds.. if you cant figure it out.. ask they guys at the shop for the "new" kind..

On my car (2000) all i had to do was undo the cap on the "low side" of the AC system.. it was on the condensor.. its is the big shiny aluminim tube shaped thing on the front of your engine (passenger side)..

dumped a few cans of the stuff in there and the AC was colder then ever!

just make sure you dont over pressure the system.. use the guage..

the only problem you may have is a leak.. you need to get it check out if you have one..

I think the refirgerent and the kit all cost under $40 bucks..

later

AutoZone has just a can of refrigerant with a hose that connects to the low pressure port, no guage. It cost about 15 bucks, but I have seen them for about $10 at places like Wal-Mart. It is a cheaper way, but you won't know what the pressure is.

Make sure you don't have a leak somewhere, that's why you need to go to a shop to check it out.

They refilled my refridgerant, and put a dye in it so it would show where the leak was. Turns out the condensor had a hole in it. Replaced condensor, and now A/C works.

Expensive, though :(

I used the sealant & charge kit on my Blazer. It will get soo cold that it will actually stop blowing. Have to turn it off & let sit about 10 min before it will work again. Is it overcharged? it shows good on the gauge when the clutch is engauged

it does, but when in boubt, either have someone there who's done it before, or go to a shop.

nahh.. dont be a puss.. look its almost idiot proof.. if i can do it wo ****ing it up anyone can..

most cans of r-134A comes with the dye and even a pinhole sealent in it..

and basicly the hose you connect can only connect to one place on the engine.. so.. you cant be wrong..

jsut read all the instructions and you will be fine..

NOTE: your AC may not even turn on if its really low (like mine was).. so to get they system started you need to get the pressure level up..

anyway.. its will be fine..

just look around for red stuff after you do it..

if the clutch does not engage, do not chare the system. get a paperclip & use it as a jumper for the pressure switch. I had to do this on the Blazer.

just got back from Discount Auto, picked up a can of R-134A that came with a hose attached to it, seems pretty straight forward, theres no gauge though. Do i just fill it up until the can is empty?

I had spent over 400 dollars at one company, only to have it break about a month or two later, and they want another 600 dollars to re-fit it.

I cut my losses and studied up. Bought new compressor, dryer, refridgerant and did it myself for $250!!! Never ever had a problem with it since, and that was about 2-3 years ago.

To dumb it down I put it in pictures...

TAKE THIS CAN AND SHAKE IT UP

http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/e/defrag/can.jpg

THEN UNSCREW THIS AND PLUG IT IN AND SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER
