I got up early this morning to head to school in my 95 firebird convertible automatic, and had problems with my shifter. I can't get it to come out of park. I have always had problems with it, it took two hands to push the button in. This morning, it pushed right in easily but wouldnt come out of park. I hope its not the tranmission, or something that is going to be a big mess to fix. Anyone ever have this problem or have an idea of what I should do would be nice. Driving the 80's ford escort piece of junk I have sitting in my yard "killed" me today at school.
Thanks.
I removed the T from the stick but I cant get the console plate out. So I took needle nose pliers to try take the wire clip off on the black cylinder thing with the little room I had. The right side of the clip snapped off leaving part of the clip, and the green and white wires still there. I'm not sure how to get the clip off. Can anyone help me out before I have to cut the wire, or even worse, take the car to a mechanic.
Thanks.
i assume youre talkin about the green/white wires under the console, that clip should come off. ive run into my problems trying to take clips wires etc out, but theres always a way it comes out some how
I just tried to get the clip off again and ended up pulling one of the wires out. I decided to just take the other one out and get my car on the road. The shifter still stays suck in park even with the two wires disconnected. I have no idea what to do, I guess take it to the mechanic and let them replace the solenoid.
this may sound stupid but are you parked on a hill by chance?
