• Installing a 180 Thermo - - Must cooling system be drained?!?

Hey guys I bought a 180 Thermo and I was reading the instructions on the back and it says you must drain the cooling system. Is this necessary?

Hell no.

Someone should post to whether or not there is a drain plug though. I dont know if there is or not.
On my old '00 Blazer there was no drain plug on the radiator and when I installed the 160 deg thrermo I just pulled off the hose to the t-stat and just let the minute amount of antifreeze hit a bucket I had under the truck.

So, if there is a drain plug, drain a very small amount. If not, or maybe even if there is one.. just pull the hose off - it's all good. Expect an extra 5 minutes to your work to clean up the floor.

Thanks Cale. There is a plug on the radiator though. I remember I drained my old antifreeze last time there were freeze warnings and I put in some new one.
