I was thinking about getting one of these, and I was just wondering if anyone else had one, also do they make a noticable difference in performance? And, one last thing, do I need a stage one or two? (You can look at them at www.jetchip.com ) Thanks for your help!!!!

    I'd get a fastchip from www.fastchip.com
A a lot of people came into this shop my dad used to work at with those Jetchips so the shop went into the computer to see what the Jetchip changed and it did absolutely nothing.

I got a fastchip and it was worth every penny.

Jetchips don't play with the Computer...they use there own tables on the fly.

I spent $200 on one for my 92 3.1 Camaro and it basicly did nothing. I felt more increase from a drop in K&N. Not worth the money.

As for "chips" all around. I would spend the money elsewhere, then when you get to the point where you have modded so much get a custom program.

I would say, a big no, unless you live somewhere where it's constantly cold.

Even running with 93 octane in the heat I was getting so much timing retard (knock sensor?) with the Jet chip on my 3.8. Others have had similar experiences. On some cars the damn thing didn't even work. Then there is the problem, at least on the newer 3.8 cars, of the Jet module causing a condition where the car wont shift out of 2nd gear.

I'd spend the money on exhaust, intake, etc.

i called fastchips today and they dont do anything for the v6. As in they dont make one for us. Not even custom made. And the search continues for a 97 firebird chip or programmer.

Yeah, I know, they went into the computer of the car and into the jetchip and they were the exact same thing.

Also, fastchip does have something for the 3.4L but not for the 3.8.
