• MSD Question

Alright i have had my MSD DIS4 Box for like 6months now and am finally around to puttin it on, and i was wonderin from those of you who have installed it how hard it is to install and how long it took, ive done every other mod to my car but since ive never done this before im not sure if its somethin i shouldnt mess with, my bro is a genius when it comes to cars but he works so much i feel bad askin him to help, so i was wonderin if it was as hard as the instructions look and if u guys dont think i should try by myself is there places that install these boxes that u can trust not to fudge the ignition or car up....?

I would definitely suggest the MSD CIU's. They will make installation a lot easier.

You will need 3 Coil Interface Units (CIU)
I just installed my DS-4 about a 2 or 3 weeks ago... you will definately need the CIUs
If you did a search a found a wiring diagram on the board, DO NOT use it. It is wrong. If you can't get it, call MSD and ask them. After finding out the hard way that the diagram from the board was wrong, my dad spent a couple minutes on the phone with MSD and got the proper wiring and my car fired right up.
Mounting it will probably be your biggest problem, but other than that the wiring only took us about 3 hours and we had to do it twice.

If you did all your other mods, I don't see how you can't do this one either. Just get the CIUs and you'll be fine.

Don't follow that. (no offense)

And buy 3 of these: http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...d=11&x=19&y=11

YES, there was a VERY NOTICEABLE difference. I wish I would have done it sooner...
The car idled A LOT smoother, pulls way harder, gas mileage is up 1 mpg..
It is a great all around upgrdade.

Mine is running on stock coils and wires too.

This is a different opinion that most people get from the DIS-4. Many people will tell you that it is really only beneficial if you are running forced induction or nitrous on your car. I am running nitrous, but I have had the DIS-4 on LONG before the nitrous and I like it a lot.

BTW, that Coil Interface Unit (CIU) and the Coil Interface Module are the same. MSD part number 8870.

That is unfortuante for others, I can guarantee I got a horsepower increase. Everybody who rode in my car a lot before and after noticed it too.

Still a great upgrade in my opinion.

I put mine where the tank for the windshield fluid used to be.
Nice and cool spot, not close to all that engine heat, but you will need some sort of water cover if you put it there.
I've washed my car countless times and it still works though
