  • A/C recharge question

I haven't gotten my A/C recharged since I bought my car. I bought it new and I now have quite a few miles on it (110k), and I wasn't sure about the scheduled recharge intervals.
The air still comes out a little chilly, but I want an arctic blast wind coming out (without driving to either poles with the windows down).

there is actually no set time interval that the a/c needs to be recharged that I know of. It is possible that the chemicals in a R-134a system can separate if not used for a long time, but this rarely is the case. Your system may have a leak and need a recharge. Best way to do it is pull a vaccuum and let it set empty for atleast 15 minutes and make sure the pressure stays the same. If it changes, you have a leak. Spot a leak by looking for oil around a/c components. Some oily spots are normal on compressors after several years of use.

Oops! Sorry. I posted this when I first got up this morning, and was thinking about all the paperwork I had to finish from yesturday.
I just wanted to ask when I should get it charged up again? Wasn't sure if I should get it done every 50k miles or so.
It still has cool air coming out when the A/C is on, but I believe it could be colder.
Oh well, I'll go and get it done tomorrow anyway. Hopefully there aren't any leaks.

            Thanx.
