  • someone please give me a diagnosis

I my car is hesitating real bad now. I changed the fuel filter and then took it for a drive and got an SES light. After driving some more and filling up the tank with 92 octane, the light went away and the hesitation went back to what it was before the filter change (still bad, but drivable and no SES). I figured it was air in the lines. Yesterday however, the SES light came back and the hesitation got worse. I'm going to try my plugs and wires next. Any other ideas? Oh, and my exhaust smells really bad.

Could be a bad cat, but have you thought about maybe having the code scanned, maybe? I think that might give you a bit more of a definitive answer than a bunch of internet speculation.

get under your car, and tap the cat a few times. if you hear a rattle, that's the problem.

i tried everything...plugs, wires, fuel filter, trying to find an exhuast leak...nope, it was the cat.

Actually, I have a new Catco sitting in my room so maybe this gives me a reason to use it. After I change the plugs and wires if the hesitation SES is still there then I'll get it scanned.

O.K. - the Catco is now on and things are a bit better but not yet perfect - still some hesitation and the SES has not gone away but the hesitation is not as bad as it was. I guess now I'll do plugs and wires and if that does not work I'll have to get it scanned.

Why not just go to Autozone and get it scanned for Free now, before you do anything else?

That way you know exactly what the problem is...

Why waste the money on plugs and wires if that's not the problem...What if it is a coil or clogged injector? then you have to buy those on top of the plugs and wires... (That is unless you have new plugs and wires just hanging around)

Maybe your injectors are clogged. Try some injector cleaner or a fuel system cleaner.

Also be aware that your high flow cat will probably throw a code too unless you use an o2 sim behind it.

Unfortunately for me, I live in Toronto and we don't have an autozone up here. I'm taking the car to a family friend later this week and he'll give me a free scan. I just put in some fuel injection cleaner - I'll see how it goes.

How common are clogged injectors on our cars? I know that plugs and wires are a common problem but I have not heard too much on injector problems. What about coils? Also, how well does injector cleaner work? I used this STP concentrated stuff.

the car is running a lot better now that I put in the fuel injection cleaner and my SES is gone. I guess it was a clogged injector. Should I still get it serviced, or just continue using injector cleaner every once in a while?

changed the plugs and wires and things are a lot better now. There is still a bit of hesitation at WOT though. I'm going to continue to put in some fuel injection cleaner. What's the best stuff to use?

I've had good results with Chevron Techron cleaner. Works really well for my car.

You might want to try SeaFoam, heard a lot of good things about it, and I'm willing to give a go also. Here's the link: Sea Foam
