i have a 99 camaro and i brought it to have work done on it because it has a leak. They said that the leak is caused by either the cover gasket or rear main seal.. They cant tell because they would have to take my exhaust off, and they refuse to do so because i have an aftermarket Cat.... I'm pissed. I have a 3 year extended warranty and they refuse to fix my car unless I buy a whole new exhaust from them and have them install it!!!! I have a cat back from texas speed in the mail.. so that complicates the issue.. I told them to take the stock exhaust off, fix the problem and that i would pay them to install my texas speed exhaust, they refused to do that too... Can i take my car to any shop and have warranty work done? Is what theyre doing to me legal.. Even though the catalytic converter has nothing to do with my problem of the cover gasket or main seal? I took the car to a Chevy dealership called Exeter Chevrolet located in Exeter, NH... Help would be appreciated THANKS!

Alot of places offer extended warranty work. Get it done at an independent shop. Also, just stick your finger at the back of the engine, when its cold, and feel if there is oil. If there is oil right under the rear of the valve cover, than yeah probably the valve covers. Also, Check to see, like turn your car off in your driveway, then wait like an hour, and then push it back some, and see if there is a new oil leak in the new spot. Alot of times, when a rear main seal is bad, it will drip slowly even when off, cause there is oil right behind the rear main seal even off and stuff. Good luck with it though. ;)Jordan
15.09@90.7
1995 Camaro 3.4 M5

I thought the problem was fixed but i guess not.... I asked chrysler if they would pay for the repairs under warranty if i took it to my speedshop.. they said yes, as long as I had the shop call first.. The shop called and were given the go ahead.. Turns out they werent given an authorization number.. So they did the repair and called chrysler back and were told that they wouldnt get paid cuz they werent an authorized gm dealer!! I was pissed. We paid the speed shop and my dad called chrysler.. Even though they told me it was ok to get it fixed at a non GM dealership as long as chrysler was nitified first... we notified them and they screwed me.. We cancelled our warranty and got 900 bucks back from the 1500 we spent... We can sue them for the 500 bucks but thats not really worth it...
Anyone know where i can get a third party warranty company to cover my car? Its a camaro with 43,000 miles on it..
We called chrysler and got a bunch of lies and they have no record of us ever calling them and asking them to authorise the work... Its a blatent rip off. Anyone know what i can do to get my 500 dollars back without suing?? ThanksMystic Teal Metallic
