Just wondering what octane level all of you use in your car? I sometimes use 93 or 94, even though the engine only says 87.

89 most the time, 93 if i take it to the track.
higher octane numbers means resistance to burning.
the longer it can go without burning, the better spark advance/timing advance you can get. however, if you're just putting around town, you're going to get an incomplete burn with 92+ octane, killing gas mileage.
heck, in the winter when the track is closed, i even put 87 in 2011 Camaro LS 6M, in black.

Higher octane is not more powerful, it just burns slower by design. If you have detonation on low octane (as the result of high compression, major power-adder, very advanced timing) then the high octane is good to cure that. If not, then all you get is a less powerful stroke due to the slower burn... :(
No need to spend more per gallon to go slower.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

Unless you have experienced KR (knock retard) or have mods that would warrant an increased octane level you are wasting your money buying the more expensive gas.2000 GTP
Thrasher CAI, 3.4\" pulley, DHP PCM
Member RedLineVSix
Best ET-14.02
Best Trap-97.15

Three factors come into play answering this q:
1: is my Jet chip on (not right now b/c of #2)
2: Am I poor this week?
3: Will my wife help me out with #2
I usually run 89-92
