• Question about switches

I know this probably belongs in the electical section, but I asked this in the audio/electrical section a while ago and it must have gotten overlooked by all the stereo questions.

For those with convertables (or have a convertable switch panel and some other switch there), could you PLEASE go see if the switch to raise/lower the top is the same size as the fog light switch or ASR switch above the stereo head unit?

If anyone knows if they're the same size or not, please let me know.

Rob

p.s.
I'm talking about in the interior of a 97+ (not sure on the year they changed, but same as the '02 interior) if it matters

Without measuring, I'd say no. I'm using a convert. switch for my MPP and it's longer than the other switches.

:(
That's why I was asking. I was hoping I could mount the switch beside the fog light switch so I wouldn't have to give up that storage spot infront the shifter. Oh well, looks like there goes that idea.

Thanks for the reply

What are your plans/goals for the convert. switch? There may be an alternative so that you can keep that storage spot. :D

I'm going to get an electric cutout (probably the MPP) and was planning on getting the switch from them that's the size of the convt. switch. I was hoping I could put it above the radio so I wouldn't have to loose that storage spot, but if it won't fit...oh well. You say you have that switch in a convt. panel - where'd you get the panel? How's that MPP treating you - work good?

If you have any suggestions of where I could mount a different switch (not the conv style), I'm open to suggestions. I just don't want it to stand out too much. The more it's hidden/OEM looking, the better.

I do.... I paid a couple of bucks from the dealership. GM Part # 10280510

I'm very happy with my MPP! It's nice to be able to adjust the Borla without crawling underneath the car! ;)

In that case... you won't regret going with the convert switch. :D You'll loose the storage space but the only thing good it was for was a cell phone.

FYI: In case you don't have it... convertible switch - GM Part # 10402721

Why don't you just wire it into your glovebox or console? It's hidden and still within easy reach.

Yeah, but then I'd have to keep either one clean enough nothing would hit it accidentally . I keep my manual/service records in my glove box and random assortment of junk accumilates in the console. I think I may just break down and get the conv panel. Guess that would have a OEM look to it.
