  • Taylor Fire Sleeve Question

This may be a stupid question, but, I don't want to screw up my new plug wires.

I just bought some new Taylor plug wires and the 1200 degree fire sleeves. Does anybody know how to put those things on the plug wires? The only way I can see is to pull the boot off one end, but I didn't want to screw up the wire. The fire sleeves have a ring at one end that won't fit over either one of the boots. I assume the ring goes farthest from the boot, and the open end just lays over the boot next to the engine.

Also, the wires have a red boot and a black boot. Which one goes on the plug?

    TIA,
    Mike

The ring goes on the end of the boot next to the engine. Mine were such a p.i.t.a to get on that I was getting ready to go buy straight ended wires. Just be patient working them on and be careful not to make the insides come out of the ends or it really won't be fun!

Thanks, I might give it another try tonight. I just got off the phone with ThunderRacing and he said the 1200 degree sleeves probably weren't meant for the 90 degree boots. They said I could exchange them for the 500 degree sleeves, which are a little wider.

i put the sleeves on my 90 degree boots. patience and little finesse is necessary. the boot goes into the non-ring end. you just slide the sleeves over the boots a little at a time.
