They stopped working a while ago but now that I'm just kinda getting the car ready to sell I'm wanting them fixed. Bulbs are fine, but no power to the sockets. I had heard something awhile ago about a sensor down by the tranny that triggers the lights to turn on when the car is put in reverse and that was probably my problem. Is anyone familiar with this or have another idea for me? Thanks!

It's your neutral safty switch. I would have to say that's it's still good, however needs readjusted. What it is/does is a safty feature that you can't start you car in gear, along with your back up lights. It's just a small switch/box that bolts to your shifter under the center console. There's two bolts on it. Loosen up the bolts, and slide it back and fourth while in reverse, car off of course til the back up lights come on. Then keep it there and just tighten them back up. Why I said it's still good is that if it was bad, your car might not start at times, or at all. My one 3rd gen was broken into one night while at work, and that's the only thing that saved me was they couldn't get it started because my safty switch was going bad, and I had to play with the shifter back and fourth a few times before it would start. Good luck.1997 Camaro RS Convertible
White w/black top, factory chrome rims
Mods so far: Borla catback, Catco high flow cat,CAI,2 point STB,painted calipers and drums with caliper camaro decals,GTS blackout all the around,5% tinted windows all the way around,Streetglow red neon lights inside and under, raised camaro fill in decals on the rear, 30th anv decals, and a nice stereo system
http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=275528

Camaro22, check his sig...he has a Manual tranny. The neutral safety switch is not located on the center console...it's on the clutch pedal, but that's not his problem anyway. You have a backup switch on the side of your tranny...most likely, that is your problem.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

ok so my first thoughts were right... do you know the general location of this switch? I'm going to go browse through my haynes manual but if you or anyone else has replaced this, it's always helpful to hear some tips from someone with first hand experience.1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.
You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s
www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident
replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)
soon to come: 1969 RS/SS
\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder
