I noticed a small oil leak and it looks like it's the gasket. Is this common in our cars, or is it probably something else? Thanks.

well for one, a rear main leak is not a small leak ;) it is probably your oil pan cause the rear main would poor oil, not leak [img]tongue.gif[/img]

yeah, if its a small leak like you said, i would let it go for now cause its a pain to replace your oil pan gasket. quick Q? did you recently replace your oil with synthetic?

well when i pulled my engine it had always been leaking a litte drop of oil ever know and then and it was the rear main it had a little hole in it which cuased it to so you never no1999 Firebird 3.8 Chamelon<br /><br />MagnaFlow Catback<br /><br />Devon

ok, just wondering cause going from oil to synth. can cause buildup to be pretty much washed and cause leaks. therock, i know its possible but im just saying most of the time, it poors oil. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I had a small leak a long time ago, all I had to do was tighten the bolts on the pan, they were a little loose.
