• The Sweet Sound of a New Engine!

I got a call today around 1PM and got the news that my car was up and running with the new engine! I've never been that excited in my life, so needless to say my brother and I hauled *** over there to get the car. I paid the guy, had a quick chat, and then started her up.

For reference:

Intake: 3.5 Mandrel Bent Cold Air Intake
Exhaust: Pacesetter Headers, No Cat, Hooker 3" Catback

Wow, it was a first for me. The idle just sounded rumbly and nice like it did before, but a little louder. Gave it a rev or two, NO RASP and there was NO LOAD on the car, it was in neutral. Take it for a drive and give it a little throttle. NO RASP, sounded like my friend's LS1, no exaggeration or joking at all. Check the oil pressure (60 constant), check the water temp (175 constant), and the autometer tranny temp (160-170, constant).

Performance:

I have yet to take the car over 3750 RPMS due to the fact that its brand new and Im gonna baby it for a bit. However, at about half throttle, the car moves pretty good until it hits about 2600 RPMS, where it feels like you just got another 50 HP. Talk about wanting to go! I would say that this is the perfect setup for a topend motor, which is exactly what I wanted. On the highway, it felt like it would pull past the 120 mark no problem at all, but I didnt go over 80 so I cant say for sure yet. 60-80 was quick and felt like just the beginning. Overall, Im anxious to get the miles on so I can race my buddy in his IROC 350, it'll def get me off the line but the highway should be another story. If anyone in GA needs a mechanic, I've got his number and would recommend him anyday! Oh, and the ceramic coating on the Pacesetters keeps so much heat in its not funny, I got my hand within an inch and it didnt feel very hot at all. Just pretty warm.

Sound clips and a video hopefully will be coming very soon, along with pictures for sure!

there's your reason for not having any rasp. mine only does while not under load and after 4-4.5k

go out and rev it up to the redline and see what it sounds like.

Me!!! I live in Conyers, 20 - 30 miles east of Atlanta...

Oh yea, if you keep taking your car over 4K RPMS over and over again, you MAY end up needing to see him a good bit sooner than you expect. ;)

cboney, i live in Marietta and I wanna know ur mechanic's name!!!!!! I'm lookin' to get a new engine myself. Probably a rebuild one 'cause i'm gettin a couple of grand in scholarships that i dont need (one of my scholarships covers my whole semester) and since my car's got 130K on it i wanna get a new engine. How much did all ur swap costs?
