Lately my car has been running inconsistent. When I go WOT it doesn't always shoot the rpm's up. It's almost as if the tranny is not downshifting when it should, even if I downshift manually it does the same thing. Other times it just takes off and goes. Also, when I slow to a roll like when turning a corner it stays in third gear when I feel it should be in 2nd, if not first. Other times from a complete stop it seems like it shifts from first directly to third. I've changed the fuel filter and tranny fluid and it seemed somewhat better but still not right. I have plugs and wires but haven't put them on yet.

It may not even be the tranny. Replace the plugs, wires, get a tuneup if you haven't had one in awhile. Another thing: don't manually shift your auto. That's a good way to mess up your transmission. It doesn't do any good anyway: the shift points on the tranny are going to be the same regardless of whether or not you manually shift it. That's the way it is on electronically controlled transmissions.-Eric
2002 Navy Blue Camaro...Striped and Stalled. 35th Anniversary SS wheels
Best ET: 15.384 @ 88.32 on street tires
Project Whitney: Goal, 14.0 1/4 by summer 2008.

Next week I'll get the plugs and wires swapped and try a little injector/fuel system cleaner. If that doesn't do it I'll have to hook up a fuel pressure guage and see what kind of pressure I'm getting. It seems more and more like a fuel problem to me because it seems a lot better when I use 93 octane instead of 89. It's almost as if I might be getting some detonation and the computer is retarding the timing. Oh, when I do the plugs I'll also check the codes.
