Lately my car has been running inconsistent. When I go WOT it doesn't always shoot the rpm's up. It's almost as if the tranny is not downshifting when it should, even if I downshift manually it does the same thing. Other times it just takes off and goes. Also, when I slow to a roll like when turning a corner it stays in third gear when I feel it should be in 2nd, if not first. Other times from a complete stop it seems like it shifts from first directly to third. I've changed the fuel filter and tranny fluid and it seemed somewhat better but still not right. I have plugs and wires but haven't put them on yet.

having the AC on effects proformance becuase of the power take-off thing. go to a shop and have the codes looked at.

It may not even be the tranny. Replace the plugs, wires, get a tuneup if you haven't had one in awhile. Another thing: don't manually shift your auto. That's a good way to mess up your transmission. It doesn't do any good anyway: the shift points on the tranny are going to be the same regardless of whether or not you manually shift it. That's the way it is on electronically controlled transmissions.

Next week I'll get the plugs and wires swapped and try a little injector/fuel system cleaner. If that doesn't do it I'll have to hook up a fuel pressure guage and see what kind of pressure I'm getting. It seems more and more like a fuel problem to me because it seems a lot better when I use 93 octane instead of 89. It's almost as if I might be getting some detonation and the computer is retarding the timing. Oh, when I do the plugs I'll also check the codes.
