AH HA... I thing i may know... :D

Check the turn signal switch. I had the same problem. My drivers side brake light would sometimes not work and it was driving me crazy. I checked all of my wiring and bulbs and everything i could think of and nothing. Well one night I accidentally hit my turn signal switch while I was backing up and saw the reflection in a crome bumper.... Atlast I thought "I see the problem", and well it sure was. I flicked the signal down (not all the way, just to the piont before the blinker kicks in) and well no light. I push it back up and all was well. I have yet to replace it but after I use it I just make sure it is all of the way up and not grounding out the brake light...

All of this is assuming that your taillights work and not your brake lights...

Now if thats the case, take it back to the dealer and show them how to do thier job right (if it's under warranty)...

    Good Luck.... S

OMG I LOVE YOU Swata! I've been trying to figure this out for a year now. I did find that when the driver's side didn't work, I could turn on the right blinker and then back to the left blinker and it would work. But I just didn't think about it your way. I got a ticket for that crap too. Thanks! :D

quote:
Dojo2000 wrote: OMG I LOVE YOU Swata!

Well I could take that several ways ....but thanks for the compliment

I refuse to take mine to the dealer to fix it though. I've looked in some restoration parts books and found the turn signal hand but not the switch. I wounder how hard it would be to replace the unit.. By now making sure the switch is in the up position is a habbit and i find myself doing it when I driver other ppls cars...

Well thats all... Good luck avoiding those tickets and make it a habbit when you start your car and after your done cruising a while to check it.

I have this problem as well.. but only when the car is going faster than 45 or so.. thought I had it fixed for a while - pulled off the brake light, made sure all the connections were good and it worked for a while.. one of the other birds noticed it was out again Sat night at the beach... pulled it off in the lot, shoved it back together and it works again..

Do we know for sure that the TS switch will fix this? Fortunately, my car will pass inspection as it always works when the car is sitting still, but I really don't like the idea of flying past someone and only having one brake light working..
