• Cooling Temp Gauge

I've been thinking about getting a coolant temp gauge to fill my other gauge pod hole since
our stock ones are about as accurate as a musket with a crosswind.

My question is how would I install this? My friend tried to install one on his Grand Prix GT. He tapped into the existing sender and his car ran like crap and was misfiring to hell. He didn't want to drill into his coolant lines to install the after market sender like the directions said, so used the access port in his tranny and is now using it as a tranny temp gauge, too bad it still says engine temp in the gauge . Is there a way around this problem and use the stock sender, or am I going to have to tap into my coolant lines? Thanks guys.

I would avoid using the stock sending unit if you got a new sending unit with the gauge. The stock unit wouldn't be calibrated to the new gauge and vice versa. I'm not sure why your friend had so much trouble unless he caused the computer to get "confused" with the second gauge attached to sending unit. Follow the directions even though it will be more work, you'll be more satisfied with the results.
