  • help please car runs bad

    hi

im going to tell you whats wrong and a list of parts ive had replaced

the car is a 2.8 mpfi 85 camaro berlinetta 4speed auto with od and 98,000 kilometers

it has a hesitation problem only sometimes, and when it hesitates the worse i feel the backfire in the intake.
it used to chip the tires when i wanted to get it moving
im getting bad milage, i think it is running rich as it killed my o2 sensor and made my manifolds turn blue and leak
i get 300 kilometers to a full 55 litre tank (about 185 miles?) of highway, a month ago i was getting solid 450 kilometers per tank and i dont keep to the slow lane much.
the car feels less powerful and it downshifts constantly to try and keep speed. when i accellerate it feels like it doesnt have much power until it gets above 4000rpm
when i drive on flat roads i can feel a slight surge like someone is rocking my seat slightly

those are all the symptoms i can think of trhat started a month ago that it didnt used to do. i drove it all winter.

when i got the car last summer 25,000 kms ago i replaced
    plugs wire cap rotor
    pcv valve
    air filter
recently in the past few weeks ive had replaced
    coil
    starter solonied
    air filter
    tranny fluid
    fuel filter
    plugs
    cleaned iac
i had the cat cut off to see if it was plugged and it is not.
    cleaned engine temp sensor connection
run lots of fuel injection cleaner

i always get the oil changed on time with 5w30

hope i can get some help as its a bugger having my car break every long weekend it seems. i have the next few days off and weas planning to go on a 4000km road trip to visit parents but am not as the car isnt working well.
    i have to drive it

Okay, here are some guesses based on your information. First, the poor mileage, loss of power, and backfiring all point to a poor air to fuel mixture ratio. To me, that means one of two things - a vacuum leak somewhere, or a bad sensor/computer. The vacuum leak is easy to troubleshoot. I would eliminate that first. If you can't find a leak, you're probably stuck with a delaer diagnosis. Good luck.

I am thinking its fuel related as well. Did you replace the o2 sensors? That might be the problem as well. It starts up and idles fine right?

Are you throwing any SES codes?
