not to be argumentative or anything, but, uh, why not ask your dad what the egr is and about proper diagnosis and repair of egr problems? i mean, what better way to bond with the pops???

hmmmmmmm why don't i ask my dad....aparently I already have if he has told me what is wrong. I personally wanted to know what ever one else did and if there may have been any other solutions that may have been thought of that maybe my dad and i didn't come up with. He has already cleaned it out and it worked for a short period of time and now it seems as though the only solution is to get a new one. I just wanted to see what everyone else did in their cases.

well im sure noone here can tell you what to do i mean you said yourself your dad knows more than everyone here, you under estimate some of the mid power that some of these members have there are so many very intelligent people here that know a ton about cars and i dont think its fair for you to say your dad knows more than everyone, alot of members here know therir stuff

Hey i have a junk yard that has a few egr valve sin really good shape hit up your junk yard for the parts i just got myself the premium sound package that way for 20 bucks.

i never get hard feelings. does no good anyway. sometimes i come off sounding like an a$$ and i'll be the first to admit it. just ask my students [img]smile.gif[/img]
the egr is pretty easy to r&r. get a gasket, unplug, remove pipe, install is reverse. if in question, consult haynes.... HOWEVER..... you may want to hook an interactive scan tool up to it and check the circuit to the EGR from the pcm. sometimes a fault in the circuit may act like a fault in the valve (actually its a solenoid) itself. good luck.
