When I put the thermostat I even got MORE HEAT!!!!!

Are you saying that you didn't have a thermostat at all? If you didn't have one at all, try resetting the computer? Where did you car come from? Texas? :D

What kinda temp were you running before? Before I put the 160 in my car I was running constant 210 in mine. After I put it in I was running about 170 - 180. Of course temp goes up on stop & go driving. But on long hauls on the highway... it's running about 170 - 180 with the AC on

I just put in a 180 thermo last week, and my car is run a constant 167 degrees, according to our temp gauge. In stop and go traffic, it's getting to 175-178. Hey dude, with no thermo, you may want go get your radiator rodded out. Car may have been suffering from poor water circulation before you got it. Might be why the other guy took it out.

On my car there is a rubber seal that goes around the thermostat. I'm using the seal, and the gasket. Go to autozone. Both parts will come up on the computer if you need them. FYI: My thermo did not come with a gasket, but from pass experience, you want to buy a gasket separately. Gaskets that come with thermostats are usually pretty sucky.

sorry I pressed the weon botton and send half of the message.

                Im in colorado.
when I got the car, it had 90 days waranty ( It was Used) when I test drive the car the guy told me this kinds of cars run at really high temperatures. Well after a week w/ the car, I was liking oil. so I took it to the dealership they fixed for me for free. So now I have the temperature problem but I no longer have the warranty :(

What im thinking is buy a new radiator. But i'm still wondering what the thermostat deal is.??????????????
I took the thermostat out yesterday and not getting as much heat, but still goes way far from 210.

p.s. I am wondering. Why when I go fast in the highway my temperature goes down, and why when I go slow (45-50mph) gets really hot. (It bothers the hell out of me when my feet gets really hot). Any explanations to this??????????

that sounds like a problem. Take it to the dealer fast before your radiator messes up, or get a new one. My car runs like 180-190 when I drive with AC and 170 without it and I dont' have any new thermostat. I've never hit 210 in mine. go get it checked out.

Start with the easy stuff... Try a coolant flush. Much cheaper than replacing the radiator.

The faster you go, the better heat transfer you are getting from an engineering standpoint! As you go faster, the pump increases flow because it is connected to the main drive. You get more air flow cooling the liquid int he radiator. Has to do with boundary layers, turbulent flow characteristics, and pressure drop. Possibly sounds like the inside of the radiator is clogged if you are noticing a substantial temperature difference!

Before you post anything else, check the coolant level. If it's ok, check the condition of the coolant(i.e. flaky? Rusty? etc.). If so, drain it all out and add coolant. There will be directions on the back of the coolant container(some are premixed, others you mix it). You have to repeat it a few times because you are only draining the radiator. Do the cheap things first. And the reason why it's cooler at high speeds is because air is getting scooped up into the radiator.

Don't forget that the system has a purge for air release and having air in the system can cause this problem.
