Probably quite a few posts on this, but here's my experience changing the plugs on my 99 for the first time.
Tools needed: 3/4" spark plug socket, 3/4" combination wrench, ratchet, 3" ratchet extension.
What's needed for what cylinders, and how to get to them:
Cylinders 1,3,5, and 6: From the bottom of the car, all can be done with the spark plug socket and combination wrench.
Cylinder 4: From the top (may have to take take the plug wire off from below). Spark plug socket, ratchet and 3" extension.
Cylinder 2: From the top. Spark plug socket and ratchet.
Total time was around 1.5, 2 hours (this was the first time, so it took a bit longer. Next time, I can probably take about 20 to 30 minutes off of that).
Also, I used Bosch Platinum plugs, but it's probably safe to say most any platinum plug will work a whole lot better than the stock piece of junk plugs. There was an immediately noticeable difference in the sound of the engine, it started up better, has better throttle response and low end torque, and much better power and response at the top end. This was with only 21,000 miles on the stock plugs (which are the vaunted 100,000 mile plugs). Very much worth the effort.
