  • Horrible gas milage!!!

OK, I've had my car for almost 2 years now and have never really paid attention to my gas milage before. About 5 months ago I noticed that 've been getting about 200 miles to the tankfull. Which is about 13MPG which is horrible compare to all you other guys out there. I drive it hard sometimes but normal most of the time - but not enought to get that bad of milage. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've recently changed my fuel filter, regularly run fuel system cleaner, changed plugs, and cleaned K&N filter. I was thinking of changing my O2 sensors, cuz they are stock and I have 85,000 miles on her now. ANY help or suggestions would be awesome!

I posted the same thing in the V6 forum on CamaroZ28.com about a week ago. I got a few helpful responses.

    Here is the thread http://web.camaross.com/bb/Forum14/HTML/012900.html

Yeah I get about 250 miles to the tank and even that is horrible. I got a new catalytic converter and my mileage went up from 200 to 250 a tank and i got new plugs/wires that are ready to go on so hopefully they will help.. maybe a fuel filter change will help as well... anything else?

I get close to 350 or more on the highway but just driving around the suburbs or city I only get around 230 or so max. It kind of sucks. I'm gonna replace my cat. and see what happens then.

I get 15 mpg in town and 30 on the highway. if you carpool w/ other peoplein the car, that makes mileage worse.

I get at least 16-17mpg in the city and 32+ on the highway. I don't drive that hard but I know I don't drive mellow enough to get those kind of numbers so I'm lost!

Dominic: hehe... I wouldn't call Cali mountainous but since you're from FL I guess I can see how you would see it that way! I thought LA was flat until I went to FL last summer :D

Try checking the EGR valve. Mine got really bad gas milage when it started to go bad and since I replaced it, it is fine.

Have you changed you PCV valve? Also check you O2 sensors and maybe clean your EGR and see if it improves you gas mileage.

the remote electric water pump is a remote mount electric water pump that can be mounted anywhere in the engine compartment and is a replacement for the stock waterpump.
