There is no Auto Zone near where I live, but I wanted to see if anyone could figure this out without a code...
I have been away for about 5 months, my car (98 Firebird with 50K miles) hasnt been driven much in that time, my brother started and ran it for awhile a few times a month. Anyway, the SES light is on now, I havent noticed any problems with the way it runs. If I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery, the SES light does not come on...until I start it the second time after resetting the computer.
I just had the emissions tested this afternoon and it fast-passed. But looking at the test from 2 years ago, the car is now putting out a lot more Hydrocarbons (.2024 GPM vs. 0.01 GPM), Carbon Monoxide (8.1553 GPM vs. 0.0 GPM), and Carbon Dioxide (257.12 GPM vs. 42.3 GPM). Hopefully somebody has an idea what these numbers mean and if they are whats causing my SES light.
I am not sure when I could get to an auto zone to get the code scanned. Any ideas?
