  • car still has bad morning movement in drive, please give some ideas...would like to..

Well my car still has this weird idle at drive. I have replaced the EGR and IAC sensors. I changed them to pass smog a few months ago. I also changed the plugs and plug wires. I will explain my problem out as clear as I can. I have posted before, but no luck in fixing.

My car has a rebuilt top end. It blew a head gasket at 53,000 miles. It was replaced and repaired, and now the car has 63,000 miles with no major problems except my cold, fresh start idle. It accuatly happens any time the car has been sitting, and now it is making me want to figure out what is wrong with it.

If I start the car at 9 a.m. Southern Cali temp's etc....it will idle perfect, until I reverse or put it into drive. Then my engine jumps rpm's up to about 1000 and back down to 700, and as the rpm's are jumping, or surging is a better word, the car feels like it will die if it surges too much. If I have to hit my brakes, the engine also surges rpm's just as it does when I place it in drive to move the car. Once the car is warm, or has been driving, it completly stops doing it.

So come 5 when it's time to get off work and the car has been sitting for 8 hours, I start it up, let it warm up for a few minutes, and drive off. I have the same surging problems. Same thing as when it's cold.

I have no SES lights or codes in the computer. So aparently no sensor is tripping a code. I do not have any idea what is wrong with it, or why it surges. My TB is clean, I do have a FPIK installed with a clean filter. My problem is the car idle's fine, until I have to come to a stop or just let the car move when in shifted into drive, it surges rpms.

I think it is vaccum related, but I have never searched for a vaccum leak before. I also thought when i had the motor fixed he removed the TB, and put the gasket on funny. I am stumped. Again, once the car is warm and has been driving no problems what so ever, it's just right when you start it to the point it warms up.

Please give me some places to try and something to think about. Now I'd like to get my camaro running right, so I can keep it longer. I know it doesn't have many miles. To my knowledge, nothing else has been replaced on the motor.

    Please help,
    Chris
