  • Changing Steering Wheel?

    Have any of you done it? I have a '98 Camaro and would love to replace it, but... how?

    I get the idea that its very easy to do. So is lighting a stick of dynamite....

    With both i would prefer someone hold my hand the first time i try.

      It's easy...remove the airbag by removing the 4 torx bolts holding it to the steering wheel. Then you remove the nuts that holds the steering wheel on from the center of the wheel. You then will need a "steering wheel puller" speciality tool which you can rent at Autozone for about $15.00. You put the puller on, tighten and voila. Then, you install the new hub for the new wheel and reinstall the nut to hold it on. Then, install the new wheel. If you would like more detailed instructions, send me an e-mail.

        I used to want to put in a new steering wheel that had a bigger horn area (preferably in the middle), because I was really tired of having to find my tiny buttons used to honk the horn on my car, but now I'm just used to it.
