  • Engine light at hard acceleration

I've been having a weird problem lately, during har take offs my engine light always come on. It goes off after a few days, but comes back eveytime i accelerate to hard. Any ideas what this could be, maybe the O2 sensors?

Are you misfiring at all? I had the same problem, with shaking and hesitant acceleration. Turned out to be a misfire in cylinder five (which was because someone put five ac delco plugs and one bosch in my car, I just bought it lol).

What you really need to do is take it to autozone and have the codes read. I think they will still be on the computer even if the light is off.

Its not a hesitation, but i know what your talking about cuz i had the same problem where the ignition wire was burnt through by faulty installation.

This is basically a smooth acceleration and at certain point the engine light goes off.

dub-creator, I think you have a misfire somewhere, my Firebird does the same, it comes on sometimes when I accelerate, but I don't feel any hesitant acceleration. Unfortunatelly, after a few things I read, it seems to be a common problem on Firebird, it is due to a bad conception of engine, the wires going to the sparks plugs are too close from the headers and it burns them. The only thing you can do is get different wires, more resistant, and maybe fold them with high temp sheets, do it also on the spark plugs caps. It sucks anyway. I went to a dealership recently and he plugged his comp to my car to check what was wrong and yes, it was a misfire... he reset my cars computer and the light didn't come on for 2 weeks, but yesterday it came on again... I don't have much money to spend right now, so I won't fix the problem yet, but maybe in the future I will invest in good spark plug wires first.

Im going to wrap my wires and plugs and im kind of hoping for it to be the problem I will let you know how that works out
